Yes, and you wouldn’t believe the people who don’t understand how to use it properly. Instead they throw away opportunities. A bad interview can do more damage than not getting any PR at all. They say, there is no such thing as bad PR…I disagree.
If a new author comes on my radio show and is constantly plugging their book and not offering any content to my listeners…that is a bad interview. Now here’s how this works against you. People can smell you trying to sell your book…and they don’t like that. They want to be the ones to say, hey, that was a very cool interview, maybe I should buy that book.
If they sense you are trying to sell and don’t care about them, then they won’t pay attention to what you say if you come back on my show someday in the future…but the worst thing is the radio host who has a bad experience with a guest and then sends an email to his radio brothers and sisters saying how bad you were on the air…then the damage is done.
You are finished before you even begin.
Please offer content, content, and more content. I had a guest today who just sold 106 books within 15 minutes of finishing the interview…and guess how long we did the interview for??? Come on…guess…
5 minutes!!!
The book retails at $34.95 …she made $3495.00 in 5 minutes!
