Never say this to a DJ

I was stood up on the air…not once but twice in one hour.
You know I'm a Morning Man on All Hit KBS right? I guess that's important to the story.

Sad Stood-up story #1 – happened with Art Linkletter. I promo'd him for a week…and when I called at the arranged time for the interview, I got some very angry old lady who threatened to beat me up if I ever called her number again. (Telling that story on air was funnier than the missed interview) The publicist later called and said, "oops, we had the wrong number." I wasn't happy but hey, things happen.

Sad Stood-up story #2, which happened only 20 minutes later, was with a doctor who talks about Male PMS. Once again I called at the said time and there was no answer. So, I left a message at his home and on his cell. He missed our interview!

A few hours later he called and apologized on my voice mail. He asked about rescheduling…which was fine but the thing he said that really surprised me was this final comment – He actually said to me, "…sorry, these morning interviews haven't really worked for me. "

I'm thinking in my head….are you kidding me??? I'm giving you free publicity and you basically said you can try doing another interview but you can't guarantee you'll make it.

Thanks but no thanks…I'll just play another song.
