Today's Publicity tip is actually a technical issue. Wouldn't it be a shame to get an interview on a radio show and then they don't play it because your phone line crackles and hisses? Well, it’s sad to say but it happens. If you are going to be serious about doing interviews from your home in your PJ's you have to invest in a decent telephone.
Radio stations hate doing interviews by cell phone unless you are a big star. We can forgive bad sound when it’s George Clooney or Julia Roberts or even Al Roker…but we expect you to sound great.
Watch the headsets. I have not found a headset yet that sounds better than the handset. It’s very easy to figure out which phone sounds best. Call a friend and try all the phones you have (with and without headsets)…which ever one sounds the best…is the one you should use for interviews.
