Cell phones in Bedrooms – BAD idea!

I saw this story from the telegraph this week. ON OR OFF, SMARTPHONES AND TABLETS IN BEDROOMS DISRUPT SLEEP: Researchers at King's College London and Cardiff University found that using smartphones or tablets before bedtime doubled the risk of a disrupted night's sleep and doubled the changes of feeling excessively sleepy the following day.

The study also found that smartphones and tablets in bedrooms disrupt the sleep of children even if they are switched off. Dr. Ben Carter of King's College London said, "Our study provides further proof of the detrimental effect of media devices on both sleep duration and quality. Sleep is an often undervalued but important part of children's development, with a regular lack of sleep causing a variety of health problems." (Telegraph article click here)

This would be a great media topic to pitch your local radio and TV shows if you are a sleep expert. WHY is it a great topic?

Because it relates to almost every family in North America!

My phone stays in the kitchen. My tablet and computers are OFF by 6pm. And I LOVE my sleep…so personally I couldn't understand having my cell in the bedroom. How about you? Leave a comment below. Where is your cell at night?
