Welcome to December – the absolute worst month for us radio hosts!
First off, we get locked in our studios and have to play the same Christmas songs over and over and over…it's enough to make you go crazy! By Dec 24th – we don't want to hear another word about Christmas! LOL
But what's even worse…many hosts can’t find great guests for the month because everyone seems to go on vacation.
So here is the shortest Monthly Hot Topics List I have ever had!
We only have 2 Monthly events that are good for mainstream media:
December is National Drunk & Drugged Driving (3D) Prevention Month – Can you explain how in the hell people still can’t figure out don’t drink and drive? This is still a major topic…maybe you can help! These days we are seeing surviving family members sharing their stories…and I think this is the only way for people to learn…you drinking and drugging can hurt real people – stop it!
December is Safe Toys and Gifts Month – Does anyone else remember lawn darts? When I hear about Toy safety I can’t help but chuckle as we used to throw these spikes in the air and try and get them in the circle across the yard. You learned very quickly to be alert especially if you had big brothers.
We have only 1 weekly event but it could be AWESOME!!!
Older Driver Safety Awareness Week: Dec 5-9 – Great way for a driving school to get some publicity. Find older people to take out on a race track and teach them how to drive. The older the better. Pitch a TV News show and then offer some tips for Older Drivers to be Aware of. This really is one of my fav ideas of 2016! I think it would get a lot of people talking….plus you could do a video and I know it would go viral!
