When E-mail goes Bad!

In my classes and seminar, I teach people how to spread your name quickly to radio hosts by using show prep sites and having radio hosts spread the word about you.

But if you do something stupid. It works the same way…only it damages your chances.

Yesterday a Major Market station sent me a note. It said

"Hey Wayne, Attached is a screenshot of an email that not only did not draw me in with it's enticing greeting of "Dear Media Person" but I am sure it pissed off more than a few people who had their email address broadcasted via this version of SPAM. If you want an example of how not to do things this is a great one."

Oops. This person screwed up big time.

1. The sent a mass email saying "Dear Media Person" instead of a name. DELETE
2. They put all the addresses in the To and CC windows, so everyone has their email. DELETE

So please do your homework. 1 interview on a major market show is better than every station in a market being mad at you for being a putz.

Do your homework and call me by name.
