WOW – shocking news that Prince passed away and he was only 57. At our radio station this morning the place went nuts! Everyone was trying to confirm – is it true – is it a hoax?
Then sadly it was confirmed to be true.
Then we rushed to announce it to our listeners and create a tribute to this musical genius!
When something like this happens in the news, don't be surprised if your interviews get cancelled (Unless you are talking about Prince). Almost every news shows and radio show in the world changed their programming today and tomorrow.
On my show, I found a man who worked with Prince who will share some stories about who he was as a person. Plus I know we will have a ton of interaction with out listeners about this sad news.
So chances are if you have an interview booked in the next 24-48 hours…you will get cancelled. If you want to make a great impression, be proactive and send the producer a note asking if they would prefer to book you for next week. They would probably be impressed that you were sensitive enough to their situation…and re-book you.
