Are we consuming more or less media?

Saw this incredible stat thanks to the Hollywood Reporter. U.S. adults spent 10 hours, 39 minutes per day consuming media in the first quarter of 2016. Thanks to a substantial increase in smartphone and tablet useage, that's up a full hour from the first quarter of 2015, according to Nielsen's Q1 2016 Total Audience Report.

The report also found that half of all U.S. TV households now have access to at least one SVOD (subscription video-on-demand) sevice like Netflix or Amazon.

That's the same percentage of households with DVRs. Live TV usage among U.S. adults is still declining, down three minutes from the first quarter of 2015. During the first three months of 2016, U.S. adults reportedly spent an average of four hours, 31 minutes watching live TV each day.

WOW That's a LOT of TV! 4 Hours of TV could be a 100 km Bicycle ride! (or 60 Miles for my American Friends)
I'm sure there is a media pitch in here somewhere…maybe…your pitch could be….will anyone put down their phones and tablets for 24 hours? I don't think so. The addiction is too strong!
