It happened again! This is a vital mistake that almost every author makes. They don’t know how to do an interview so when asked for some information nuggets they try selling their book.
I’ll let you in on an insider media secret…it’s hard to book authors on the radio because they usually aren’t good interviews.
Today I had a Marriage Counselor on the radio and he says all the problems in a relationship are mostly the mans fault!
Of course I know this and if you are a man…then you know it too.
We know it’s our fault…now tell me how to fix it. My wife remembers “discussions†from 1995 word for word. She’ll say…you said…. (OK and I admit I tune out at that point and start thinking about you and this blog hehe)
So I asked the author what can women do to make their relationships better today.
He answered, “Buy my book and read it cover to coverâ€
Everyone who’s ever taken my media training or a Tele-class is wincing at this moment because they know that phrase is the kiss of death!!!
If you haven’t heard me say it before listen closely…DON’T SELL YOUR BOOK!!!!! You ruin it for every author on the planet. We need real facts and real solutions to real problems. Do a great job of that and your books will fly off the bookstore shelves.
