Today's topic — junk.

Your trash could be more valuable than you think. Operators of 1-800-GOT-JUNK franchises are hauling away garbage and then some from the homes of clients across North America. They've found everything from signed presidential documents to a copy of the first Spiderman comic. A company spokesperson says it's truly amazing what people will throw away.

Canadian-based 1-800-GOT-JUNK started as a one-man operation 16 years ago. The company will have 250 franchises throughout North America by the end of the year.

In 1989, university student Brian Scudamore encountered a tight summer job market in Vancouver, Canada. While working at a McDonald's drive-thru, Brian discovered his future career was in junk. He spent his last $700 on a used pickup and start his own junk removal service.
