I was watching a bio on the biggest rock band on the planet, U2.
It was a fascinating show about how they get ready for a world tour.
It was great eye opener on what it takes to be successful. They had to spend about a month rehearsing their set list to make it look seamless…then the wildest part was the guys saying how nervous they were before the first show!
Now if the greatest band on the planet works that hard to prepare after 25 years in the business, do you really think you do enough to get prepared?
I’ve come to realize success takes work. But superstar success takes even more work.
I am encouraging you to practice…practice…practice.
My wife, Melanie, is getting ready to launch her book, My Sister My Friend, about the mysterious death of her sister…and we are not leaving the PR to chance. We are already working on how to make the media interviews great. We’ll record, practice and listen and then do it over and over again about 1000 more times.
Most people don’t put enough thought into what they are talking about in the media…don’t leave it to chance. Believe me; the great interviews that make it look easy have practiced every line thousands of times. Being a star is hard work but worth every second of practice when you get a phone call from Howard Stern or Ryan Seacrest!
