Today I opened my email to 2 shocking emails.
And I bet you are thinking – what kind of bad thing happened? RIGHT?
It's actually a happy story! I had 2 people from different parts of the world send me thank you emails for my free Interview cheat sheet download.
Why is this shocking? Because most people will never take the time to drop you a thank you note for anything you do. So when it does happen, it truly stands out!
If you want to make a positive impression, a quick thank you email will always be received with warmth.
So I wanted to say thank you to Joan Stewart for always being a great support and sharing my Monthly Interview Hot Topics with her followers. And thank you to Dr. Rudy and Mike for your notes today.
You wouldn't believe the people have been able to connect with because I sent a thank you note to a random stranger.
Here's just a few:
I sent a random note to the evening news team at Fox Q13 in Seattle just to say how much I enjoy them. They deliver some very sad news but they always look for a positive way to educate their viewers. They sent back a note that was wonderful – and I interviewed them for my Publicity Program about how guests can get booked on TV news shows.
I sent a note to the National News anchor after some grueling Canadian Election coverage – telling Lisa what a great job she did with the election. She wrote back and was all smiles.
I've reached out to random radio stars who inspire me or made me laugh…and they always write back.
We are all human…and I think we are seriously lacking in feeling appreciated.
I never do this with an intent of getting something back – I do it from a place of appreciating hard working people.
You wouldn't believe the negative crap we "media public eye people" have to deal with.
Last week I had a guy call and complain that I don't say the time enough.
He was angry about it.
I asked if he had a watch. He said yes.
I asked if he had a phone. He said yes.
I asked if he had a clock on the wall. He said yes.
I asked why he needed me to tell him the time before the news.
He said, he didn't want to look at his watch, phone, or clock.
True story!
Thanks for reading this, and have an awesome day!
