The last couple of weeks I have been working with clients on special media marketing strategies and ever time I hang up from a session I am so excited for these clients.
Every one of them has a message that relates to "real" people. If you have a story or an idea that you know LOTS of your neighbours want to know about…you might have a topic for radio.
IF you are a dinner party and you and your topic or idea quickly become the interesting focus of the night…you might have a topic for radio..
IF you and your girl fiends can sit around discussing your topic like the girls on the TV show "The View"…you might have a topic for radio.
on the flip side if you start discussing your ideas and people start looking at their watches and yawning…that might not be a topic for radio.
So watch your friends and clients for cues about how trendy your topic might be.
I can always spot a hot topic with a client. And most of the time what they think will sell won't. It always comes down to the "who cares" factor. If lots of people care….that's a good thing. If most people don't care, then mainstream media might not be the right fit.
